Who keeps moving my trash?

It's Monday once again and that means it's trash day. So we take the can out to the street, and at some point in the morning the "Waste Management Technician" comes and empties our can. All good, but then... somehow the trash can mysteriously makes it back to the front of our garage. ??? This has been happening for at least the last five weeks and try as I might I can't figure out WHO is doing this! I've tried to listen for the sound of sliding trash cans and once heard the culprit, but ran to the window too late to see who it was.

I believe our mystery trash mover does this for everyone on the street and I want to thank this person for their kindness, but they elude me.

But here's the part that I feel like such a jerk about - I don't know, maybe I'm a bit OCD, but I do know for sure that I am somewhat anal when it comes to where things belong - so it bugs the crap out of me that our kind neighbor puts it back in the wrong place every time! I'm a jerk, I know...

In the meantime I'll work on getting over my misplaced annoyance and hunt down our garbage crusader so I can show my gratitude!

Oh! I think I hear them now!!! Gotta run!

HOLY MISSONI!!!

I'm not a fashion blogger nor do I have one of those sweet interior design blogs (obviously!) But secretly I'm a closet designer. Aspiring to be PRO!! Just gotta get my degree finished up. So that is why I couldn't pass up the opportunity to comment on Missoni for Target!

When I first heard that Missoni was coming out with a line for Target I thought SUH-WEET! I love Missoni who is famous for its unique knitwear, made from a variety of fabrics in colorful patterns. And if you don't know who they are here are some pics that barely touch on their fabulous-ness!

Missoni Rainboot

Missoni Fabrics

Luxury Bugaboo Missoni Baby Stroller

My Favorite is this Hotel set to open in 2013!!

I LOVE!!! But, I totally mis-judged how huge it would be that they were launching a line for Target. I was way off! I thought it's all good and I'll go check it out in a couple of days... but it was SO HUGE! that Missoni crashed Target's website!

Here is Target's official Statement:

Due to an overwhelming amount of traffic to Target.com as a result of the Missoni launch this morning, guests are unable to access the site. Providing a positive shopping experience to our guests is important to us and we are working to get the site back up as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

And now I come to find out that not only did the site crash, but the shelves were wiped bare and items are flying up on eBay at inflated prices! A chevron zig-zag tote bag, originally $34.99, was listed for more than $100 on eBay, with bids starting at $50Wow, Fashionistas are crazy y'all!

The Italian luxury design house's 400 items with the hallmark zig-zag patterns were set to run from Tuesday through Oct. 22 at 1,762 Target stores in the U.S. and online. What makes me the most sad is that "There are no plans to restock the shelves beyond what Target stores received for the opening day." says Joshua Thomas, a spokesman for the Minneapolis-based retailer.

I'm gonna need some time to get over this... Can someone please hand me a tissue?

Oh yeah, and if you want to catch some deals that are still around go here. <shamless plug!>

Ode to Husband

With Love to Husband on Father's Day

You are the best Father on earth! Your love is immeasurable and never ending.

You would give anything and do anything for your family and frequently do!

Rising above the call of duty and often falling into the pit of exhaustion because you work so hard.

An amazing Father and Husband - we could not be more loved.

Together you and I brought the most beautiful child into this world and he is the spitting image of you.

And more than looking like you, he's inherited your best traits! Kind and loving, playful and funny, sensitive and giving. And you're both pretty darn good snugglers!

I don't worry that Buddy will be a great man, because he has all the example in you that he needs.

I thank God every day for blessing me with the husband and father of my dreams!

These past nine years have been amazing! We had our struggles,  but also much more love and compassion.

Your mom once told me that every couple each weaves it's own beautiful tapestry. At times it will be dark, others light with vivid colors in between. Sometimes we will have to carry one another and other times we will walk side by side. And together we will create an exquisite work of art that is all our own.

I love you and always will.

Disclaimer: Yes I did write this before Father's Day, and Husband did read on Father's Day... I'm just really, really, slow... that is all.

7 Ways to Feelbetter (not a typo)

My brain is fried. Before I signed in to blog I had to sit here and think - is it [dot]blogspot or @blogspot... Wow. I'm tired. But since I haven't posted since the giveaway, (which was HUGELY sucessful by the way) < insert sarcasm > I figured I better get something out there before I lose all 13 readers. I mean really... C'mon you guys! A free manicure or pedicure! Who doesn't want that. Big ups to Ann (Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!!!), Silly, Katie and Megan for entering. Oh, yeah...and sorry Megan who I think entered without realizing she had to come to Utah to get it. :-) And who wants to do that? I promise I will have goodies in the future for peeps anywhere in the US. (roar of the crowd in the background!)

So life... Yeah. It's been crazy. End of school year, field trips, beginning of summer school (no they don't make kindergartners go to summer school - it was cheap and I figured it would help keep his brain from melting for at least another four weeks) Then it's buddy's birthday tomorrow - Happy Birthday Dude! (stop growing up you're killing me - I miss my baby!) and Father's day! Bank account dwindled.

And now we come full circle. My point, which is not at all like a circle.

Something needs to change. I was looking online last week about how to better my blog, since I'm new at all this bloggy stuff and I happened upon ProBlogger.net which in turn led me to the authors other blog feelgooder.com, which is where I stumbled upon his eBook 7 ways to feel better. Man could I use that right about now. It's a 39 page document you can print out that you can journal in and has questions, tips, inspiration and resources in the 7 areas of exercise, saving, connecting, eating, acting (as in service), play and thinking or thoughts.

NO I'm not being paid to promote this (not that I would be opposed to that!) but I felt it would be great for me and even "gooder" to share it and invite others along to complete this challenge with me. So for the next seven weeks I'm going to take some time every day to work on my booklet and post about my progress. (Seriously, I'm not getting paid for this. See - there's no hyper linky things.) I just love you, that's all! But I want you to play along. Do this with me! Tell me how your doing, make suggestions, comments and bring your ideas to the table. Let's begin shall we?

Ok - Ready, Set, GO!

....well, hurry up! What are you waiting for?

Disclaimer: This is actually not a disclaimer... I am doing this to fool you! I am not being paid for this but I will give you the linky things anyway because I want this to be more successful than my giveaway. Plus, I make my disclaimer smaller anyway. (See older posts) Here's your link already www.feelgooder.com/feelbetter

oh, Ha Ha! I just looked at the link and it's actually supposed to be a seven DAY challenge. Not seven weeks. I'm slow alright... and grumpy. Which happens when I'm tired.

Get Nailed Giveaway! *** Closed ***

Ok Ladies... Listen Up!
I'm so excited! This is my first giveaway ever! I'm giving away a full set manicure or pedicure! Up to $25 in value!
Um, Awesome!

Have you heard of Sheekee Nails? Or Maybe Glitter Toes? How bout Shellac? I hadn't either until right before my trip to Florida in April. I had heard of Minx nails and knew they were all the rage. I wanted something fun, colorful and a little wild for my getaway vacation! I asked around at salons here in Utah and when I asked if they did Minx nails they practically looked at me cross-eyed. Come on Utah! Get with the times! So, I took to the internet in search of my coveted Minx look and found a solution. Cute Lisa Terry who owns Get Nailed Salon! Lisa does what is called Sheekee nails.

Sheekee nails look just like Minx, except they are better. They are great for the natural finger nail or toe nail and won’t cause any damage to the nail plate.  They apply very easy and last for up to 2 weeks on your fingers and 4 weeks on the toes. Now if you still aren't following, let me catch you up. Basically they are what are called nail wraps that come in a variety of designs and colors. They are a heat activated product, but unlike Minx they can be applied with either a heat lamp or a hair dryer. This helps remove expensive start up costs as most salons already have a hair dryer. They also are designed to work in conjunction with an acrylic or gel overlay. This means that its harder for the design to come off, get caught on anything, or peel off. They also last longer! Sounds fabulous right? Now enough talk... let's see some pictures shall we? Yeah

That's only 10 out of 1, 2, 3, ..... um, a lot! And I also put in a picture of how you can use it for your tips. If you can't tell I'm partial to designs with silver or chrome in them.

(Sorry it took me forever to get those pictures on here and when I tried to title them it screwed it all up again. So, from top to bottom they are Dip n Dots, Strippee Purple, Glass Slipper, Muse, Paisely Power Black, Prom Night, Courtesan, Hotness, Ms. America, and Oh So Glam!)

So, Here's how it's gonna work -

*** This giveaway is open to entries in the US only ***

There are 5 chances to win. Be sure and leave separate comments for each entry on this posting to enter. **If you qualify for all 5 chances then leave 5 separate comments**
(1): Leave your name, email address, or whatever you feel most comfortable leaving in a comment. (ex: “Jennifer Hair”)
(2): Go to Sheekee, have a look around, and then tell us your favorite item! (ex: “Jennifer Hair = Definitely Graveyard Hot Pink!)
(3): Follow the It's Hair Raising blog. (ex: “Jennifer Hair = blog follower”) or say I already do! All 11 of you! And Husband doesn't count!
(4): Like Get Nailed on FB and then write -  (ex: “Jennifer Hair = likes Get Nailed”)
(5): Tell everyone you know who's in Utah about Lisa Terry and the Get Nailed Giveaway! And then tell us how you told.  (ex: “Jennifer Hair = I emailed, I called, I texted”)

And if you aren't in Utah you can still enter if you'll be coming here. Offer is good for one year. If not, show some love and tell your girls who ARE in Utah about this giveaway would ya? Pretty Please!!

***Remember*** Winners will be picked by Random.org and are not notified through email, so you have to check back to find out if you won! This giveaway will be open for entries the entire week and end on Sunday, June 12th at 5 pm MST. Be sure and check back on Monday, June 13th to see if you won, so you can claim your prize! ***Remember*** Winners are not notified through email, so you have to check back to find out if you won!

So you wanna see my nails???? Well here you go!

These are with acrylics because my nails were so short to begin with.
Had to even them out somehow. Isn't Lisa awesome?

Blingin' for Florida!

Stripe Me - From the Strut Your Stuff Collection

Going punk - This is on top of my real nails!
Graveyard Hot Pink - From the Crazy Dayz Collection

Also if you'd like to try the Shellac or Glitter Toes just let Lisa know. (Whether you win or not). I did the Shellac with a french manicure and I loved it. It's durable, doesn't chip and dries in like two minutes. No Joke! Sorry, forgot to take pictures of those. Next I'm doin' the glitter toes!

Have fun Ladies!!!

Yay!! It's Summer

For me, today summer has officially begun! The un-official beginning of summer has come and gone (Memorial Day), and I just picked up Buddy from his last day of school! It's warm, sunny and it's here! I'd like to quote my friend Wendy regarding the beginning of summer, "BRING IT!"

What are you going to do? I have been obsessively looking online for fun games and activities. You know, stuff to do at home, get all creative and cute mommy-ish! I've found a couple cute ideas. Like a backyard obstacles course, banana pops (Yum!), nature walks, and camping. I know, not like those are ingenious ideas, but I've never had to transition a child from school to summer. It is an adventure for us both.

So, what's your favorite part of summer? Mine? Fourth of July definitely!

Ahhh... BBQ, homemade ice cream, and FIREWORKS!!! Oh yeah, and I need to get a flag for our yard! How fun would it be to get all dressed up as a family in matching patriotic costumes for the traditional pancake breakfast and morning parade??? Super cute right? And I even found the coolest place to make my fourth of July dreams come true! Costume Supercenter! And they have a great deal going on right now. Here's a coupon cause I know we are all a little tight financially! And I know my own propensity to procrastinate until the last minute, but not on this. The coupon only last until June 7th! Hurry up!

So, this year we don't have any big summer vacations planned (I know...so sad...) but we are going to make the most of it! I love to entertain and plan on having a few parties. I've never had a Luau but would love to do one. Get all my friends together, cook up some yummy grub and pull out my poi balls for a little entertainment. I have them, I really do! And I KNOW how to use them! Watch out!

I am SO excited! Are you ready? I am! Here's to a summer to remember!!

Random Act of Kindness

You know, I've always been terrible when it comes to food storage. I was raised with the belief that it is of the utmost importance to be prepared in case of an emergency. I mean look what's happening around us. Japan, Haiti, Chile, Thailand and right in our own backyard... Katrina! And most recently the horrible destruction the Super Outbreak of tornadoes in April left in its wake in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. I mean holy COW!

It's alarming I know... but don't get all freaked out! If we learn from the past we can be ready for the future. My Aunt and Cousins have always been an inspiration to me. They are so super good at having a food supply in their home. Large cans of wheat, flour, dry milk etc. And they are super mommies canning their own fruits and veggies. I am not quite of that caliber. I want something simple. Just add water, heat and POOF, deliciousness!

Also, my other downfall has been storage. All of my married life we've rented. (don't get me started on that!) and I really haven't had places to put these large containers of dried goods. But now we are in a place where I actually have a pantry that I can fill with all sorts of goodies. But I want something that is to-die-for-delicious! Something so good that if I have a busy day I can just grab and my family will enjoy it!

Yeah! Like That!

So, what if I knew of such a place? What kind of friend would I be if I didn't let you in on a little secret? A bad one right? I'm a pay it forward kind of gal. So I'm gonna let you in on a super cool hook-up! All you have to do is take a little tour -> HERE! and you get to try some yummy food storage! I did it and I'm so excited to share it with you. Now I'm totally motivated to get my family prepared!

And when you're done, PAY IT FORWARD to your friends and family! In these times of global uncertainty we should help each other be ready for whatever may come our way.

And do me a favor... leave me lots and lots of comments!!!

Hair-Cut?

This is Micah. My little buddy. But check out his hair...
What IS that? Super Fro to the rescue!
                                      Here is the sideburn curls.
And also we've got the Justin Bieber bangs growing in.

When he is looking unkempt, such as in these pictures, we like to lovingly refer to him as PigMuffin. That would be half Pig Pen from Peanuts and half Rag-a-Muffin. (Thanx Hook for contributing to that creation.)

But seriously? What do I do with this hair? The longer it gets the poofier and more ratted it becomes. There is no wetting and combing this thing down...it's like a coiled spring. So you say, just cut it then! Well, it's not that simple. It has been a long heated debate as to whether Micah should have long or short hair. Well, actually, only heated on Husband's side of the family. And I mean HEATED. They've long opposed the short faux-hawk that he's sported for pretty much all his life. There was even a time when we went to the Grandparents fresh from Cookie Cutters and I watched as a beloved family member tried to flatten it right before my very eyes! I was like what the??? Oh no you di'nt! I just paid 15 bucks for that! A big Thank you goes out to hair product because that thing shot straight back up! So that gives you an idea on how hated the illustrious short spiky cut is by half the family.

Ok, now that we've let it grow long as per suggestion, and as you've seen it's just getting out of control, my question is, how do we cut it? What style? He's been blessed with Daddy's full body and curl as well as a cowlick in the exact same spot... Although you'd never know it since he keeps it short as well. So do we go back to what works? Short and simple ... Or??? I don't know! You tell me. I'd love to hear your comments and suggestions!

Oh, and here's a pic of the short Do just for reference.

By the way - Don't worry...not every post is going to be about Hair.

Hair-larious!

This is me... well, an artful rendering of me, drawn by my son Micah (Buddy) for Mother's Day. He's 5... going on 6 next month! I think this picture says it all! Check out my Do I've got going on. It's Hair-larious! Oh, I love him. He was so excited that he made my hair pink because that's my favorite color. (Secretly it's purple, but you wouldn't know from my blog page) But apparently I spice it up for a little variety. Some blue and brown highlights should do the trick! Yep, looking good!

I think that picture possibly could be the blog mascot!

So yeah, my first post. I'm not a "blogger" but I hope to be. This is my first run at it and am looking forward to having lots of friends/followers. I've seen the blogs come and go, but I sat in the background and just watched. For years. And now when it seems that all my friends and family have quit I'm just beginning. My cousin even said that Facebook is the new "blog" and blogging is SO yesterday! Well, she didn't really, but it felt like it.(Love you Christi) They think I'm crazy. Well, my sister Carolyn would say REALLY crazy. And maybe I am, but here's my brilliant plan. What they don't know about is Broadcast Bloggers. And if you are anyone in the blogging community...you KNOW about Broadcast Bloggers.

What's that? You don't know??? Well, I'll let you in on a little secret that's about to become HUGE news!

Drum Roll.... you can blog and get paid!!! I know right? This company is going live June 1st and I've already gotten in on the goodness. In the back door so to speak. In one week they've gone from about 20 bloggers to almost a thousand bloggers and businesses! I was on the conference call today and they are getting all sorts of businesses that we can blog about from a cute modest online clothing boutique based out of Idaho, to kids products, food storage and even a chic shop in Beverly Hills!!! I'm so excited. Can you say BLOWING UP! We've already crashed their server!

And this is what my favorite part is. I get to write about me, my life, my family, joys, struggles...whatever...and my blogging is sponsored by these companies who are going to pay me for MY time. Not only does this give me purpose, but I can reach out to others, make friends, enhance my writing skills, earn money and grow our family!! It really doesn't get better than this!

Anywho... that's my first blog. A little about me, my goals and looking forward to good things to come! Check back in the next day or two for more content. It's the beginning of GREAT things!
