Random Act of Kindness

You know, I've always been terrible when it comes to food storage. I was raised with the belief that it is of the utmost importance to be prepared in case of an emergency. I mean look what's happening around us. Japan, Haiti, Chile, Thailand and right in our own backyard... Katrina! And most recently the horrible destruction the Super Outbreak of tornadoes in April left in its wake in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. I mean holy COW!

It's alarming I know... but don't get all freaked out! If we learn from the past we can be ready for the future. My Aunt and Cousins have always been an inspiration to me. They are so super good at having a food supply in their home. Large cans of wheat, flour, dry milk etc. And they are super mommies canning their own fruits and veggies. I am not quite of that caliber. I want something simple. Just add water, heat and POOF, deliciousness!

Also, my other downfall has been storage. All of my married life we've rented. (don't get me started on that!) and I really haven't had places to put these large containers of dried goods. But now we are in a place where I actually have a pantry that I can fill with all sorts of goodies. But I want something that is to-die-for-delicious! Something so good that if I have a busy day I can just grab and my family will enjoy it!

Yeah! Like That!

So, what if I knew of such a place? What kind of friend would I be if I didn't let you in on a little secret? A bad one right? I'm a pay it forward kind of gal. So I'm gonna let you in on a super cool hook-up! All you have to do is take a little tour -> HERE! and you get to try some yummy food storage! I did it and I'm so excited to share it with you. Now I'm totally motivated to get my family prepared!

And when you're done, PAY IT FORWARD to your friends and family! In these times of global uncertainty we should help each other be ready for whatever may come our way.

And do me a favor... leave me lots and lots of comments!!!

Hair-Cut?

This is Micah. My little buddy. But check out his hair...
What IS that? Super Fro to the rescue!
                                      Here is the sideburn curls.
And also we've got the Justin Bieber bangs growing in.

When he is looking unkempt, such as in these pictures, we like to lovingly refer to him as PigMuffin. That would be half Pig Pen from Peanuts and half Rag-a-Muffin. (Thanx Hook for contributing to that creation.)

But seriously? What do I do with this hair? The longer it gets the poofier and more ratted it becomes. There is no wetting and combing this thing down...it's like a coiled spring. So you say, just cut it then! Well, it's not that simple. It has been a long heated debate as to whether Micah should have long or short hair. Well, actually, only heated on Husband's side of the family. And I mean HEATED. They've long opposed the short faux-hawk that he's sported for pretty much all his life. There was even a time when we went to the Grandparents fresh from Cookie Cutters and I watched as a beloved family member tried to flatten it right before my very eyes! I was like what the??? Oh no you di'nt! I just paid 15 bucks for that! A big Thank you goes out to hair product because that thing shot straight back up! So that gives you an idea on how hated the illustrious short spiky cut is by half the family.

Ok, now that we've let it grow long as per suggestion, and as you've seen it's just getting out of control, my question is, how do we cut it? What style? He's been blessed with Daddy's full body and curl as well as a cowlick in the exact same spot... Although you'd never know it since he keeps it short as well. So do we go back to what works? Short and simple ... Or??? I don't know! You tell me. I'd love to hear your comments and suggestions!

Oh, and here's a pic of the short Do just for reference.

By the way - Don't worry...not every post is going to be about Hair.

Hair-larious!

This is me... well, an artful rendering of me, drawn by my son Micah (Buddy) for Mother's Day. He's 5... going on 6 next month! I think this picture says it all! Check out my Do I've got going on. It's Hair-larious! Oh, I love him. He was so excited that he made my hair pink because that's my favorite color. (Secretly it's purple, but you wouldn't know from my blog page) But apparently I spice it up for a little variety. Some blue and brown highlights should do the trick! Yep, looking good!

I think that picture possibly could be the blog mascot!

So yeah, my first post. I'm not a "blogger" but I hope to be. This is my first run at it and am looking forward to having lots of friends/followers. I've seen the blogs come and go, but I sat in the background and just watched. For years. And now when it seems that all my friends and family have quit I'm just beginning. My cousin even said that Facebook is the new "blog" and blogging is SO yesterday! Well, she didn't really, but it felt like it.(Love you Christi) They think I'm crazy. Well, my sister Carolyn would say REALLY crazy. And maybe I am, but here's my brilliant plan. What they don't know about is Broadcast Bloggers. And if you are anyone in the blogging community...you KNOW about Broadcast Bloggers.

What's that? You don't know??? Well, I'll let you in on a little secret that's about to become HUGE news!

Drum Roll.... you can blog and get paid!!! I know right? This company is going live June 1st and I've already gotten in on the goodness. In the back door so to speak. In one week they've gone from about 20 bloggers to almost a thousand bloggers and businesses! I was on the conference call today and they are getting all sorts of businesses that we can blog about from a cute modest online clothing boutique based out of Idaho, to kids products, food storage and even a chic shop in Beverly Hills!!! I'm so excited. Can you say BLOWING UP! We've already crashed their server!

And this is what my favorite part is. I get to write about me, my life, my family, joys, struggles...whatever...and my blogging is sponsored by these companies who are going to pay me for MY time. Not only does this give me purpose, but I can reach out to others, make friends, enhance my writing skills, earn money and grow our family!! It really doesn't get better than this!

Anywho... that's my first blog. A little about me, my goals and looking forward to good things to come! Check back in the next day or two for more content. It's the beginning of GREAT things!
